We investigate a new type of Schwarzschild wormhole, which relies on a 3-dimensional spacetime defect with degenerate metrics. This particular wormhole is a solution of the vacuum Einstein equations. We also study the generalized Schwarzschild-type defect wormhole and discuss the Null Energy Condition. In particular, we investigate the geodesics and geodesic congruences of the generalized Schwarzschild-type defect wormhole. Additionally, we explore the optical appearance of these wormholes, shedding light on their observable features.

  1. A rigid spherical shell enclosing a degenerate wormhole

    gr-qc 2026-07 reject novelty 3.0 of 10

For a rigid shell enclosing a degenerate Schwarzschild–Klinkhamer wormhole, the paper derives zero shell proper mass, but the derivation fixes the interior mass parameter by a g_tt normalization rather than by the Isr...

  2. Big Bang as spacetime defect

    gr-qc 2024-12 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

The Big Bang singularity is replaced by a degenerate-metric spacelike defect, yielding a smooth bounce with finite curvature and a second world on the other side.
