abstract

The hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to muon $g-2$ is examined based on the low energy effective theories of QCD, the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and hidden local symmetry approach, supplemented by a general information concerning the asymptotic behavior of QCD. Our result is $- 52 \times 10^{-11}$ with an uncertainty of $\pm 18 \times 10^{-11}$, which includes our best estimate of model dependence. This is within the expected measurement uncertainty of $40\times 10^{-11}$ in the forthcoming experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Our result removes one of the main theoretical obstacles in verifying the existence of the weak contribution to the muon $g-2$.

  1. Dispersion relation for hadronic light-by-light scattering: $\eta$ and $\eta'$ poles

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A dispersive analysis of the eta and eta' transition form factors yields data-driven pole contributions to the muon g-2 of 14.7(9) x 10^-11 and 13.5(7) x 10^-11.

  2. Field-theoretical approach to neutral pion contribution to muon $g-2$

    hep-ph 2025-01 reject novelty 5.0 of 10

The neutral pion contribution to muon g-2 should contain only the on-shell pole term, with no principal-value part, because off-shell pions are not well-defined states in QCD.

  3. Lepton anomalous magnetic moments: Theory

    hep-ph 2025-12 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

The paper provides an overview of theoretical calculations for lepton anomalous magnetic moments arising from quantum corrections in the Standard Model.
