Lepton-flavor-violating decays of the type L->l gamma gamma (mu->e gamma gamma, tau->e gamma gamma, and tau->mu gamma gamma) are proposed as new probes of R-parity-violating supersymmetry. Non-penguin diagrams with a sneutrino that decays into two photons via a triangle graph might trigger such decays even in the absence of the corresponding radiative decays into one photon only, e.g. mu->e gamma. Thus, processes of the type L->l gamma gamma may provide an independent probe of new flavor physics.

  1. $\mu^- \to e^-\gamma$ in a muonic atom as a probe for effective lepton flavor violating operators involving photon fields

    hep-ph 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A muonic atom's muon can decay to an electron and photon through two-photon flavor-violating operators, and this process could be observable in future muon experiments for heavy target nuclei.

  2. Revisiting $\mu$-$e$ conversion in $R$-parity violating SUSY

    hep-ph 2026-01 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

RG running changes limits on certain RPV SUSY λ and λ' couplings by up to 80 percent, with upcoming μ-e conversion experiments expected to set stronger bounds than μ→eγ or μ→eee decays.
