Consequences of a strong version of the AdS/CFT correspondence for extremely stringy physics are examined. In particular, properties of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory are used to extract results about interacting tensionless strings and massless higher spin fields in an AdS_5 x S^5 background. Furthermore, the thermodynamics of this model signals the presence of a Hawking-Page phase transition between AdS_5 space and a "black hole"-like high temperature configuration even in the extreme string limit.

  1. Higher-Spin Correlators in dS

    hep-th 2026-08 accept novelty 8.0 of 10

The five-point de Sitter higher-spin correlator is shown to be a spurious-singularity-free rational function organized by graph-theoretic orbits of the complete graph K5.

  2. Null-strings Gauged, Reloaded and Quantized, I: Canonical Quantization in the Light-Cone Gauge

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Light-cone Schrödinger quantization of null-strings with Carroll-Weyl symmetry yields D-3 physical modes, a discrete spectrum, and no critical dimension.

  3. Null Strings Gauged and Reloaded, I: Null Strings Have Carroll-Weyl Gauge Symmetry

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Null strings admit two Carroll-Weyl gauge scalings; the standard ILST action arises by fixing one of them, with the residual symmetry matching an overlooked partial gauge symmetry identified in prior work.

  4. Quantum Anomalies of Tensionless Bosonic Strings

    hep-th 2026-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A unified BRST analysis shows the flipped-vacuum anomaly fixes D=26 for the ILST null string, leaves a λ-family of critical dimensions for the hybrid string, and rules out the conformal and Carroll-Weyl strings.

  5. Metric-like Cubic Vertices for Massless Bosonic Higher-Spin Fields in AdS$_3$

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Derives metric-like cubic vertices for massless bosonic higher-spin fields in AdS3 from flat-space ones via gauge invariance.

  6. Path integral quantization of null bosonic strings with Carroll-Weyl ghosts

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Null bosonic string quantization on Carrollian worldsheets requires an extra scalar ghost pair for Carroll-Weyl scaling, yielding a bcs system that alters the BRST complex and anomaly cancellation beyond the standard ...

  7. On symmetry breaking in the self-dual higher-spin theory

    hep-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In the self-dual higher-spin theory, a scalar vacuum that breaks AdS symmetry to 3D Poincaré makes all higher-spin gauge fields decouple except spin one, and makes higher-spin currents non-conserved except the spin-on...

  8. Worldsheet Formalism for Decoupling Limits in String Theory

    hep-th 2023-11 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Develops worldsheet sigma model for fundamental strings in critical type IIA limit showing nodal singularities and derives T-duality web unifying decoupling limits including ambitwistor and Carrollian strings.
