abstract

We develop a pipeline to set new constraints on scale-independent modified gravity, from the galaxy power spectrum in redshift space of BOSS DR12. The latter is modelled using the effective field theory of large-scale structure up to 1-loop order in perturbation theory. We test our pipeline on synthetic and simulated data, to assess systematic biases on the inferred cosmological parameters due to marginalization and theoretical errors, and we apply it to the normal branch of the DGP model with a $\Lambda$CDM background. When applied to synthetic data and cosmological simulations, we observe biased posteriors due to the strong degeneracy between the nDGP parameter $\Omega_{\rm rc}$ and the primordial amplitude of fluctuations $A_s$. Fixing the latter to the Planck central value, we obtain a posterior distribution with $\Omega_{\rm rc}\lesssim 0.65$ at 95$\%$ C.L., under the assumption of a flat prior on $\log_{10} \Omega_{\rm rc}$. This upper bound, however, depends strongly on the prior on $\Omega_{\rm rc}$. To alleviate this effect, we provide an upper bound based on the Bayes factor between the nDGP model and $\Lambda$CDM model, which gives $\Omega_{\rm rc}\lesssim 0.2$ at 95$\%$ C.L..

  1. Disentangling modified gravity and galaxy bias with field-level inference

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

With fixed known initial phases, voxel-by-voxel Poisson likelihood on the galaxy number-counts field breaks the f(R)–bias degeneracy that power spectra cannot resolve, with voids and walls driving the gain.

  2. The simple way to measure evolving dark energy without prior-volume effects

    astro-ph.CO 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Absorbing the AP and growth amplitudes into EFTofLSS nuisance parameters removes prior-volume shifts and yields Stage III LSS-only evolving dark energy constraints aligned with DESI.

  3. Renormalized Perturbation Theory at Field-level: the LSS bootstrap in GridSPT

    astro-ph.CO 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A renormalized field-level perturbation theory is shown to recover the LSS bootstrap parameter consistently across different grid cutoffs, validated at third and fifth order against N-body simulations.

  4. An efficient one-loop EFTofLSS framework for Vainshtein-screened Horndeski gravity

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

A faster ODE-based PyBird extension enables exact-time one-loop EFTofLSS analyses of Vainshtein-screened Horndeski gravity and tightens EFTofDE amplitude constraints with BOSS full-shape data.
