Recent work suggests that fundamental and Dirichlet strings, and their (p,q) bound states, may be observed as cosmic strings. The evolution of cosmic string networks, and therefore their observational signals, depends on what happens when two strings collide. We study this in string perturbation theory for collisions between all possible pairs of strings; different cases involve sphere, disk, and annulus amplitudes. The result also depends on the details of compactification; the dependence on ratios of scales is only logarithmic, but this is still numerically important. We study a range of models and parameters, and find that in most cases these strings can be distinguished from cosmic strings that arise as gauge theory solitons.

Cosmic superstrings in large volume compactifications: PTAs, LISA and time-varying tension
Cosmic superstrings with a time-varying tension in large-volume string compactifications generically predict a LISA-band spectral drop and a high-frequency f^4 boost, encoding the mass and decay of the volume modulus.

Formation and scaling of $\mathbb{Z}_N$ strings for global $\mathrm{SU}(N)/\mathbb{Z}_N$ symmetry
In a global SU(N)/Z_N scalar model, Z_N-string networks with baryon-vertex-like junctions reach a scaling regime for N=2,3,4,5,8, with string density proportional to N^2-1.

Probing the gravitational wave background from cosmic strings with LISA
LISA is projected to probe cosmic string tensions G mu down to about 1e-17 and to measure spectral features from early-universe physics.

Constraints on Cosmic Strings from the Curl-Mode CMB Lensing Power Spectrum measured by ACT DR6
ACT DR6 curl lensing yields 2σ bounds Gμ P^{-1} ≤ 3.5×10^{-5} (small-P) and Gμ ≤ 5.0×10^{-5} (P=1), tightened further with Planck 2013 data.
