We calculate the leading isospin-violating and electromagnetic corrections for the decay tau -> pi^0 pi nu_tau at low energies. The corrections are small but relevant for the inclusion of tau decay data in the determination of hadronic vacuum polarization especially for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We show that part of the systematic differences between the measured form factors in tau -> pi^0 pi nu_tau and e^+ e^- -> pi^+ pi^- is due to isospin violation .

  1. Pion $\beta$ decay and $\tau\to\pi\pi\nu_\tau$ beyond leading logarithms

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Pion β decay and τ→ππν short-distance radiative corrections are matched at NLL accuracy with evanescent-scheme dependence cancelled, giving Δ_RC^{πℓ}=0.03403(11) and a τ-HVP isospin-breaking shift of −0.07(4)×10^-10.

  2. Isospin-breaking effects in inclusive hadronic $\tau$ data for the muon $(g-2)$ from first principles

    hep-lat 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

A lattice QCD+QED strategy is outlined for calculating isospin-breaking effects in inclusive tau decays to support high-precision HVP contributions to muon g-2.

  3. Comparison of the hadronic vacuum polarization between hadronic $\tau$-decay data and lattice QCD

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Lattice QCD and tau-decay dispersive calculations of isospin-one HVP generally agree, except for a significant difference in the 2π−π+π0 four-pion mode contribution to window quantities.

  4. The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon in the Standard Model: an update

    hep-ph 2025-05 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

The updated SM prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment is 116592033(62)×10^{-11}, showing no tension with the experimental average of 38(63)×10^{-11}.

  5. Lepton anomalous magnetic moments: Theory

    hep-ph 2025-12 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

The paper provides an overview of theoretical calculations for lepton anomalous magnetic moments arising from quantum corrections in the Standard Model.

  6. Radiative corrections to one- and two-meson tau decays for precise new physics tests

    hep-ph 2024-11 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

Improved radiative corrections bring the pion tau-decay ratio into one-sigma agreement with lepton universality and sharpen CKM-unitarity and non-standard-interaction constraints.
