Various extensions of the Standard Model predict the existence of hidden photons kinetically mixing with the ordinary photon. This mixing leads to oscillations between photons and hidden photons, analogous to the observed oscillations between different neutrino flavors. In this context, we derive new bounds on the photon-hidden photon mixing parameters using the high precision cosmic microwave background spectral data collected by the Far Infrared Absolute Spectrophotometer instrument on board of the Cosmic Background Explorer. Requiring the distortions of the CMB induced by the photon-hidden photon mixing to be smaller than experimental upper limits, this leads to a bound on the mixing angle < 10^{-7}-10^{-5} for hidden photon masses between 10^{-14} eV and 10^{-7} eV. This low-mass and low-mixing region of the hidden photon parameter space was previously unconstrained.

  2. Dark Photons from Perturbative Decay of a Misaligned Higgs Field

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Stochastically misaligned dark Higgs decay into dark photons can make all the dark matter for m_A′ ≈ 100 eV–1 GeV and g ≈ 10^-15–10^-10, shrinking to 10 keV–1 MeV with one-loop kinetic mixing.

  3. Thermal Emission of Dark Photons from Earth's Core

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Thermal dark-photon emission from Earth's core, recast onto SENSEI/DAMIC-M bounds, already constrains new ε parameter space; Oscura could improve by 2–3 orders of magnitude near 10^{-4} eV.

  4. Probing Axion-Photon conversion via circular polarization imprints in the CMB $V$-mode observations

    astro-ph.CO 2025-10 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Proposes that axion-photon conversion in pre-CMB helical magnetic fields imprints detectable V-mode polarization in the CMB, allowing CLASS 40 GHz observations to constrain ALP masses 10^{-10} to 10^{-8} eV and their ...

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A two-stage mechanism where relic neutrinos convert to dark neutrinos in the early universe and later decay into photon states can explain the ARCADE 2 excess radio background while evading neutrino magnetic moment bounds.
