The Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) is one of the payloads in ASTROSAT, the first Indian Space Observatory. The UVIT instrument has two 375mm telescopes: one for the far-ultraviolet (FUV) channel (1300--1800\AA), and the other for the near-ultraviolet (NUV) channel (2000--3000\AA) and the visible (VIS) channel (3200--5500\AA). UVIT is primarily designed for simultaneous imaging in the two ultraviolet channels with spatial resolution better than 1.8 arcsec, along with provision for slit-less spectroscopy in the NUV and FUV channels. The results of in-orbit calibrations of UVIT are presented in this paper.

  1. Deep far-UV observations of the ELAIS N1 field using AstroSat: Source catalogue, spectral energy distribution modelling and star formation

    astro-ph.GA 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

UVIT FUV catalogues of ELAIS N1 plus CIGALE SED fits show SFR increasing with redshift and a flat young-to-total stellar mass ratio to z≲0.76, consistent with secular SFMS evolution.

  2. Probing Spectral Evolution and Intrinsic Variability of Mkn\,421: A Multi-Epoch AstroSat Study of X-ray Spectra

    astro-ph.HE 2025-01 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

X-ray spectra of Mkn 421 across five AstroSat epochs fit three electron distribution models whose inferred pivot energies do not vary, supporting acceleration-timescale-driven variability.
