We propose a variant of hybrid inflation which is applicable in a wide class of supersymmetric grand unified models. The observed temperature perturbations of cosmic background radiation can be reproduced with natural values of the parameters of the theory and a grand unification scale which is consistent with the unification of the minimal supersymmetric standard model gauge couplings as measured at LEP. The termination of inflation is smooth and does not produce any topological defects. Finally, we present a specific supersymmetric model where our smooth hybrid inflationary scenario is realized.

Gravitational Waves of GUT Phase Transition during Inflation
A general deformation function maps gravitational wave spectra from phase transitions during inflation into today's spectrum; for GUT-scale transitions the peak can appear near 10 Hz or mHz.

Axion isocurvature and the model-building problem of low-scale inflation
A light pre-inflationary QCD axion that is all the dark matter forces the inflationary Hubble scale below ~10^7–10^10 GeV and, for canonical slow-roll inflation, confines the inflaton to sub-10^-4 M_Pl of field motion...

Supersymmetric Hybrid Inflation with K\"{a}hler-Induced $\mathbf{R}$-Symmetry Breaking
Nonrenormalizable R-symmetry breaking in the Kahler potential can tune the spectral index of supersymmetric hybrid inflation into the ACT DR6 window while keeping tensor modes below 1e-5.
