abstract

We study the AdS/BCFT duality between two-dimensional conformal field theories with two boundaries and three-dimensional anti-de Sitter space with two Karch-Randall branes. We compute the entanglement entropy of a bipartition of the BCFT, on both the gravity side and the field theory side. At finite temperature this entanglement entropy characterizes the communication between two braneworld black holes, coupled to each other through a common bath. We find a Page curve consistent with unitarity. The gravitational result, computed using double-holographically realized quantum extremal surfaces, matches the conformal field theory calculation. At zero temperature, we obtain an interesting extension of the AdS$_3$/BCFT$_2$ correspondence. For a central charge $c$, we find a gap $(\frac{c}{16},\frac{c}{12})$ in the spectrum of the scaling dimension $\Delta_{\text{bcc}}$ of the boundary condition changing operator (which interpolates mismatched boundary conditions on the two boundaries of the BCFT). Depending on the value of $\Delta_{\text{bcc}}$, the gravitational dual is either a defect global AdS$_3$ geometry or a single sided black hole, and in both cases there are two Karch-Randall branes.

  1. Holography and Causality in the Karch-Randall Braneworld

    hep-th 2025-04 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A consistent quantization of bulk matter in the symmetric two-brane Karch-Randall setup gives a causal low-energy intermediate description, with any possible causality violation confined to the UV.

  2. It from ETH: Multi-interval Entanglement and Replica Wormholes from Large-$c$ BCFT Ensemble

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The RT formula for entanglement in AdS3/CFT2, including phase transitions and multi-interval vacuum entropies, is derived from an assumed large-c ensemble of (B)CFT data, under the 'It from ETH' paradigm.

  3. The Mechanism behind the Information Encoding for Islands

    hep-th 2025-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Island information is encoded in the bath because island operators are gravitationally dressed to the bath via the massive-graviton Stückelberg field, realized as Wilson lines in the Karch-Randall braneworld.

  4. Holographic Correlators of Boundary/Crosscap CFTs in Two Dimensions

    hep-th 2025-01 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

Explicit bulk derivations yield two- and three-point stress tensor correlators in AdS3/BCFT2 and scalar and stress tensor correlators for XCFT2 on RP2, with tension independence and finite-cutoff deformations.

  5. Constraints from Entanglement Wedge Nesting for Holography at a Finite Cutoff

    hep-th 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For holography with a finite ETW-brane cutoff, entanglement wedge nesting requires the two intervals' RT surfaces to be spacelike separated, a condition stronger than spacelike separation of the intervals themselves.

  6. Wedge Holographic Complexity in Karch-Randall Braneworld

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For a wedge black string with fluctuating branes, the Complexity=Action growth rate gains a constant edge-mode term while Complexity=Volume gains a fluctuation-squared correction, breaking the naive equivalence of the...

  7. Holographic correlation functions from wedge

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Correlation functions of heavy operators can be computed from the on-shell action of a wedge excised from AdS3, verified in Poincaré, global, and BTZ backgrounds.

  8. The entropy of radiation for local quenches in higher dimensions

    hep-th 2025-01 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

For local quenches in d>2 CFTs, the excess entanglement entropy of radiation grows as ξ^{d/2} at early and late times, obeys an all-time relative-entropy bound, and the holographic model produces a Page-like curve.

  9. Bridging Boundaries: $T\bar{T}$, Double Holography, and Reflected Entropy

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Reflected entropy in T-bar-T-deformed AdS3/BCFT2 computed via island and defect extremal surface prescriptions agrees at leading order in the cutoff, and its Page curves show a discontinuity at the Page time.

  10. Defects extremal surfaces and interface CFTs

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A generalized defect-extremal-surface prescription for AdS3/ICFT2 is shown to match island-formula entropies in the large-tension limit and to produce Page curves for 2d eternal black holes.

  11. Building an AdS/BCFT Josephson junction within Horndeski gravity

    hep-th 2025-10 reject novelty 4.0 of 10

AdS/BCFT with Horndeski gravity is claimed to yield Josephson junctions whose phase and current depend on the Horndeski couplings, but the condensate and critical temperature are put in by hand.

    gr-qc 2025-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Scalar perturbations of a split five-dimensional thick brane yield long-lived quasinormal modes and position-dependent echo waveforms: clean periodic echoes on a sub-brane and modulated echoes between sub-branes.
