The Zhaoshan long-baseline Atom Interferometer Gravitation Antenna (ZAIGA) is a new type of underground laser-linked interferometer facility, and is currently under construction. It is in the 200-meter-on-average underground of a mountain named Zhaoshan which is about 80 km southeast to Wuhan. ZAIGA will be equipped with long-baseline atom interferometers, high-precision atom clocks, and large-scale gyros. ZAIGA facility will take an equilateral triangle configuration with two 1-km-apart atom interferometers in each arm, a 300-meter vertical tunnel with atom fountain and atom clocks mounted, and a tracking-and-ranging 1-km-arm-length prototype with lattice optical clocks linked by locked lasers. The ZAIGA facility will be used for experimental research on gravitation and related problems including gravitational wave detection, high-precision test of the equivalence principle of micro-particles, clock based gravitational red-shift measurement, rotation measurement and gravito-magnetic effect.

  1. Detecting gravitational signatures of dark matter with atom gradiometers

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Atom gradiometers, especially a space-based AEDGE+-like design, could probe a 10% dark matter clump subcomponent in the 10^6 to 10^10 kg window and order-10 ultralight dark matter overdensities through purely gravitat...

  2. Detection prospects for the Cosmic Neutrino Background using matter interferometers

    hep-ph 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The Cosmic Neutrino Background is predicted to induce phase shifts of ~1e-22 to 1e-14 rad in matter interferometers, far below current and near-future sensitivity.

  3. Gravitational wave inference of star cluster properties from intermediate-mass black hole mergers

    astro-ph.HE 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Single intermediate-mass black hole mergers detected by next-generation observatories cannot pin down progenitor cluster mass or radius because of model degeneracy, but formation redshift posteriors are narrow enough ...

  4. Characterisation of a strontium cold atom source using fluorescence spectroscopy and time-of-flight

    physics.atom-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

At push saturation 0.45 a strontium 2D-MOT source delivers about 1.5–1.7×10^8 capturable atoms/s below 30 m/s, with unidirectional-probe data scaled by a simulation factor to match counter-propagating results.

  5. Comparison of laser system designs for quantum technologies: BECCAL flight system vs. BECCAL ground test bed

    physics.atom-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

BECCAL's laser system comes in two designs, a small custom flight model and a bulky commercial ground model, both specified to meet the same functional requirements but with very different size, weight, power, efficie...

  6. Orbit design and thruster requirement for various constant-arm space mission concepts for gravitational-wave observation

    gr-qc 2019-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

For heliocentric B-DECIGO, DECIGO, LISA, and TAIJI, maintaining constant equal arms is affordable in propellant, while geocentric B-DECIGO is fuel-heavy; proof-mass actuation noise remains open.
