Ultralight dark photons are compelling dark matter candidates, but their allowed kinetic mixing with the Standard Model photon is severely constrained by requiring that the dark photons do not collapse into a cosmic string network in the early Universe. Direct detection in minimal production scenarios for dark photon dark matter is strongly limited, if not entirely excluded; discovery of sub-meV dark photon dark matter would therefore point to a nonminimal dark sector. We describe a model that evades such constraints, capable of producing cold dark photons in any parameter space accessible to future direct detection experiments. The associated production dynamics yield additional signatures in cosmology and small-scale structure, allowing for possible positive identification of this particular class of production mechanisms.

  1. Constant Scaling Fails for Global Monopole Networks

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Global monopole networks exhibit logarithmic growth in the number-density parameter ξ rather than constant scaling, with fractional response γ ≈ 0.5 for blue-tilted initial spectra.

  2. Dark Matter Haloscope with a Disordered Dielectric Absorber

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A disordered dielectric powder can act as a broadband dark-matter-to-photon conversion target, and the proposed DPHaSE experiment could probe QCD axions and dark photons in the 10 meV to 1 eV range.

  3. Searching for Dark Photons with a room-temperature dielectric haloscope

    hep-ex 2026-07 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

    No excess in 904 h of stack-on data yields a 90% CL limit κ < 4.0×10^{-13} for 1.9 eV/c² dark-photon dark matter with a template-calibrated dielectric-CMOS haloscope.

  4. Dark Photons in the Early Universe: From Thermal Production to Cosmological Constraints

    hep-ph 2025-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Dark photon thermal production is computed analytically, yielding a fixed 4πe/27 ≈ 0.14 resonance-to-inverse-decay ratio and new cosmological limits down to ε~10^-12 over 0.1–6 MeV.

  5. Searching for Ultralight Dark Matter with MOLeQuTE: a Massive Optically Levitated Quantum Tabletop Experiment

    hep-ph 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A proposed optically levitated milligram-scale plate sensor could reach the standard quantum limit and probe new parameter space for ultralight B-L vector dark matter.
