We study vortex-creating, or monopole, operators in 3d CFTs which are the infrared limit of N=2 and N=4 supersymmetric QEDs in three dimensions. Using large-Nf expansion, we construct monopole operators which are primaries of short representations of the superconformal algebra. Mirror symmetry in three dimensions makes a number of predictions about such operators, and our results confirm these predictions. Furthermore, we argue that some of our large-Nf results are exact. This implies, in particular, that certain monopole operators in N=4 d=3 SQED with Nf=1 are free fields. This amounts to a proof of 3d mirror symmetry in a special case.

  1. Orthosymplectic Chern-Simons Matter Theories: Global Forms, Dualities, and Vacua

    hep-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A magnetic quiver framework is introduced to extract maximal branches and global forms of 3d orthosymplectic Chern-Simons matter theories from brane configurations, with global data fixed via indices and Hilbert series.

  2. A Tale of Two Orbits: Non-Simply Laced Mirror

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

A 3D N=4 gauge theory is built via U(1) gauging whose Higgs branch matches a known symplectic singularity, with a proposed non-simply laced magnetic quiver mirror validated through standard 3D mirror symmetry tests.

  3. Bootstrapping the Simplest Deconfined Quantum Critical Point

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Conformal bootstrap bounds for U(1)-charged scalars in 3d are saturated by the CP^2 model's large-N and lattice predictions, suggesting the CP^2 deconfined quantum critical point is a conformal field theory.
