The measurements of off-shell Higgs boson contributions in massive gauge boson pair production are known to probe its electroweak interactions across different energy scales. Often employed as an estimator of the Higgs boson width in restricted theories of beyond the Standard Model physics, we revisit this measurement and re-advertise its potential to constrain aspects of Higgs boson non-linearity. We show that this so-called off-shell measurement complements related analyses of multi-Higgs final states.

  1. Anomalous Couplings from the Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian for Off-Shell Higgs in $gg\to Z_L Z_L$

    hep-ph 2025-07 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

In the electroweak chiral Lagrangian, off-shell Higgs contributions to gg to Z_L Z_L at leading order reduce to two independent combinations of the anomalous couplings c_t, c_V, and c_ggh.

  2. High Energy Vector Boson Scattering in Four-Body Final States to Probe Higgs Cubic, Quartic, and HEFT interactions

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

With modified Higgs potentials, 2-to-4 vector boson scattering has unitarity violation scales around ten times lower than 2-to-3 scattering and can overtake its cross section at parton energies of a few TeV.

  3. A Non-linear Representation of General Scalar Extensions of the Standard Model for HEFT Matching

    hep-ph 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper constructs a non-linear 'U representation' that separates Goldstone bosons from heavy scalars, enabling straightforward tree-level HEFT matching for general scalar extensions and giving explicit formulas for...

  4. Harnessing Higgs Kinematics for HEFT Constraints

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Reweighting Standard Model di-Higgs events with a momentum-dependent HEFT coupling gives expected Run 3 and HL-LHC constraints on a_22 and a_dd2, with four-top data helping to pin down a_22.
