The prospects of indirect detection of dark matter at the galactic center depend sensitively on the mass profile within the inner parsec. We calculate the distribution of dark matter on sub-parsec scales by integrating the time-dependent Fokker-Planck equation, including the effects of self-annihilations, scattering of dark matter particles by stars, and capture in the supermassive black hole. We consider a variety of initial dark matter distributions, including models with very high densities ("spikes") near the black hole, and models with "adiabatic compression" of the baryons. The annihilation signal after 10 Gyr is found to be substantially reduced from its initial value, but in dark matter models with an initial spike, order-of-magnitude enhancements can persist compared with the rate in spike-free models, with important implications for indirect dark matter searches with GLAST and Air Cherenkov Telescopes like HESS and CANGAROO.

  1. Flavorful Interactions of AGN Neutrinos with Dark Matter Spike

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.5 of 10

IceCube-Gen2 flavor ratios can discriminate a U(1) neutrino–dark-matter model in AGN spikes from the standard (1/3:1/3:1/3) and muon-damped predictions, and, combined with mass-ordering and tau-decay data, constrain t...

  2. Dark matter environments and safeguards for spacetime inference from horizon scale interferometry

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Using public 2017 M87* closure data, a frozen Kerr source fails an absolute adequacy test and the differential tidal-charge response fails numerical convergence, so no posterior or bound is reported.

  3. Dark matter energy exchange in stars orbiting supermassive black holes

    hep-ph 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

    Orbit-averaged elastic DM scattering in S4714 reaches stellar luminosity at σ_χp ∼ 10^{-36} cm² (MeV–GeV) and σ_χe ∼ 5×10^{-38} cm² (sub-MeV) for a spiked profile.

  4. Scalar fields around black hole binaries in LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA

    gr-qc 2025-10 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Semi-analytic waveform model for scalar environments around black hole binaries is validated against numerical relativity and applied to LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA data to obtain upper limits on scalar densities with tentative ...

  5. Dark matter explanations for the neutrino emission from the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1068

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Dark matter annihilations inside the black hole's density spike in NGC 1068 could produce the IceCube neutrino excess while staying hidden from gamma-ray and Milky Way searches.

  6. Tidal Love numbers and quasi-normal modes of the Schwarzschild-Hernquist black hole

    gr-qc 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For a Schwarzschild black hole in a relativistic Hernquist dark matter halo, quasinormal-mode frequency shifts scale as (MDM/rs)^(3/2) rather than linearly, while tidal Love numbers are small and sensitive to the choi...

  7. Did IceCube discover Dark Matter around Blazars?

    astro-ph.HE 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Sub-GeV dark matter scattering off protons in blazar jets can produce the IceCube neutrino from TXS 0506+056 while evading current dark matter constraints.

  8. Road through Dark$\nu$ess: Probing dark matter-neutrino interactions using KM3-230213A

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Using the 220 PeV event KM3-230213A, the authors set the highest-energy constraints to date on dark matter-neutrino scattering, and for energy-dependent cross sections they report some of the strongest existing limits.
