Since the thermal history of the Universe is unknown before the epoch of primordial nucleosynthesis, the largest temperature of the radiation dominated phase (the reheating temperature) might have been as low as 1 MeV. We perform a quantitative study of supersymmetric dark matter relic abundance in cosmological scenarios with low reheating temperature. We show that, for values of the reheating temperature smaller than about 30 GeV, the domains of the supergravity parameter space which are compatible with the hypothesis that dark matter is composed by neutralinos are largely enhanced. We also find a lower bound on the reheating temperature: if the latter is smaller than about 1 GeV neutralinos cannot be efficiently produced in the early Universe and then they are not able to explain the present amount of dark matter.

  1. WIMP-like Dark Matter Without Thermalization At Freeze-Out

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Hidden-sector dark matter achieves standard thermal relic abundance via early decoupling with temperature-matched freeze-out, enabling WIMP-like cross sections without late-time thermalization.

  2. Probing low-reheating scenarios with minimal freeze-in dark matter

    hep-ph 2024-12 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

In the minimal freeze-in dark photon model, low-temperature reheating pushes the required portal coupling to larger values, and the exact curve depends on the equation of state during reheating, widening the reach of ...

  3. Constraining Nonthermal Dark Matter's Impact on the Matter Power Spectrum

    astro-ph.CO 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Nonthermal dark matter produced relativistically in an early matter-dominated era remains mostly relativistic at reheating, so free streaming suppresses small-scale structure and Lyman-alpha plus Milky Way satellite d...

  4. micrOMEGAs 7: Beyond standard cosmology

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

The micrOMEGAs dark-matter package now solves Boltzmann equations with user-defined expansion and entropy histories, adds sub-GeV hadronic annihilation, and updates CMB, dwarf-galaxy, LZ, and CMS constraints.

  5. $Z'$-Mediated Dark Matter with Low-Temperature Reheating

    hep-ph 2024-12 accept novelty 4.0 of 10

Low-temperature reheating shifts the relic-density contours of Z'-mediated dark matter so that WIMP and FIMP solutions merge and new regions become testable.
