Consequences of a strong version of the AdS/CFT correspondence for extremely stringy physics are examined. In particular, properties of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory are used to extract results about interacting tensionless strings and massless higher spin fields in an AdS_5 x S^5 background. Furthermore, the thermodynamics of this model signals the presence of a Hawking-Page phase transition between AdS_5 space and a "black hole"-like high temperature configuration even in the extreme string limit.

  1. Null Strings Gauged and Reloaded, I: Null Strings Have Carroll-Weyl Gauge Symmetry

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Null strings admit two Carroll-Weyl gauge scalings; the standard ILST action arises by fixing one of them, with the residual symmetry matching an overlooked partial gauge symmetry identified in prior work.

  2. Resurgence of high-energy string amplitudes

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

High-energy string amplitudes have asymptotic expansions governed by Bernoulli numbers, upgraded via resurgence to transseries whose Stokes data encode non-perturbative monodromy between kinematic regions.

  3. Metric-like Cubic Vertices for Massless Bosonic Higher-Spin Fields in AdS$_3$

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Derives metric-like cubic vertices for massless bosonic higher-spin fields in AdS3 from flat-space ones via gauge invariance.

  4. Path integral quantization of null bosonic strings with Carroll-Weyl ghosts

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Null bosonic string quantization on Carrollian worldsheets requires an extra scalar ghost pair for Carroll-Weyl scaling, yielding a bcs system that alters the BRST complex and anomaly cancellation beyond the standard ...

  5. Worldsheet Formalism for Decoupling Limits in String Theory

    hep-th 2023-11 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Develops worldsheet sigma model for fundamental strings in critical type IIA limit showing nodal singularities and derives T-duality web unifying decoupling limits including ambitwistor and Carrollian strings.
