Environment-induced decoherence and superselection have been a subject of intensive research over the past two decades, yet their implications for the foundational problems of quantum mechanics, most notably the quantum measurement problem, have remained a matter of great controversy. This paper is intended to clarify key features of the decoherence program, including its more recent results, and to investigate their application and consequences in the context of the main interpretive approaches of quantum mechanics.

  1. Quasilinear evolution versus von Neumann selective measurement

    quant-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Quasilinear evolution replaces von Neumann projection for selective measurements, providing continuous state reduction without collapse while satisfying no-signaling and Born rule.

  2. Experimental prospects for quantum decoherence measurements at colliders

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Hard final-state radiation measurably destroys the spin entanglement of fermion-antifermion pairs, and the effect should already be visible in LHC ttbar+jet and Belle II tau+tau-gamma data.

  3. Decoherence of quantum superpositions in near-extremal Reissner-Nordstr\"om black holes with quantum gravity corrections

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In a thermal (canonical) ensemble, Schwarzian quantum-gravity corrections enhance the low-temperature decoherence rate of superpositions near near-extremal Reissner-Nordström black holes, while in a fixed-energy (micr...

  4. Gravitationally Induced Quantum Decoherence of Macroscopic Objects

    gr-qc 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Gravitational decoherence of macroscopic objects in Newtonian gravity accumulates logarithmically over distances but remains subdominant to collisional decoherence.

  5. Quantum selective measurement as a quasilinear evolution

    quant-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

A quasilinear continuous evolution is introduced that reproduces the final states of von Neumann rank-one projective measurement while preserving no-signaling and ensemble equivalence.

  6. Note on the local calculation of decoherence of quantum superpositions in de Sitter spacetime

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A quantum superposition held at the center of de Sitter spacetime decoheres at constant rates proportional to the two-point correlation functions of scalar, electromagnetic, and gravitational fields near the cosmologi...

  7. Quantum decoherence: a study applied to quarkonium-like bound states in strongly interacting matter

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A Lindblad master equation for a J/psi-like harmonic oscillator in an expanding QGP shows that hydrodynamic cooling slows quantum decoherence compared to a static bath, with viscosity having negligible impact.

  8. On the Quantum-to-Classical Transition of Primordial Perturbations

    gr-qc 2019-06 unverdicted novelty 3.0 of 10

A dissertation that introduces slow-roll inflation and perturbations, critiques squeezing and decoherence formalisms, and investigates the pilot-wave approach to the quantum-to-classical transition with numerical illu...
