If the Higgs mass m_H is as low as suggested by present experimental information, the Standard Model ground state might not be absolutely stable. We present a detailed analysis of the lower bounds on m_H imposed by the requirement that the electroweak vacuum be sufficiently long-lived. We perform a complete one-loop calculation of the tunnelling probability at zero temperature, and we improve it by means of two-loop renormalization-group equations. We find that, for m_H=115 GeV, the Higgs potential develops an instability below the Planck scale for m_t>(166\pm 2) GeV, but the electroweak vacuum is sufficiently long-lived for m_t < (175\pm 2) \GeV.

  1. Thermal false vacuum decay near black holes is aspherical

    gr-qc 2026-08 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

False vacuum decay near a thermal Schwarzschild black hole is dominated by aspherical critical bubbles for intermediate sizes and by horizon-riding Fubini-Lipatov bounces for large sizes.

  2. Large-Field Vacuum Decay in General Multi-Scalar Theories

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In the large-field limit, multi-scalar vacuum decay is dominated by a radial (straight-line) bounce, reducing the calculation to minimizing an effective quartic coupling.

  3. False vacuum decay in long-range interacting quantum systems

    quant-ph 2026-07 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

In long-range Ising chains the false-vacuum bounce action scales as B∼h^{-1/σ} for σ<1 and recovers Coleman B∼h^{-1} (plus h^{σ-2} corrections) for 1<σ<2, with algebraic tails that leave the leading exponents intact.

  4. Fourier-Preconditioned Path Deformations for Multi-Field Vacuum Tunnelling

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Endpoint-safe Fourier sine deformations of straight-line paths achieve sub-percent agreement with FindBounce, OptiBounce and CosmoTransitions on multi-field benchmarks while cutting runtime up to 90% when used as initializer.

  5. Dark Energy Bubble as Dynamical Dark Energy: Properties and CMB Constraints

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A late-time bubble of lower dark energy density can mimic DESI BAO features, but CMB dipole, kSZ, and sound-horizon constraints exclude the required parameters.

  6. Probing Flavour Deconstruction via Primordial Gravitational Waves

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Flavour deconstruction phase transitions can generate detectable gravitational waves, but their spectra typically peak above the millihertz range, making LISA detection possible yet not guaranteed.

  7. Path integral analysis of Schr\"odinger-type eigenvalue problems in the complex plane: Establishing the relation between instantons and resonant states

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Path integrals on complex contours that terminate in prescribed Stokes sectors yield spectral formulas for resonant energies, explaining why the instanton bounce calculation and real-time decay rates agree.

  8. False vacuum decay of excited states in finite-time instanton calculus

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Excited-state decay widths are obtained from a finite-time endpoint-weighted path integral and match the established WKB formula.

  9. The Two Scales of New Physics in Loop-Induced Higgs Couplings

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A deviation in the loop-induced Higgs couplings hgg, hγγ, or hZγ caused solely by new vectorlike fermions implies an upper bound on the mass scale of new bosons needed to restore perturbativity and vacuum stability.

  10. Vacuum decays around spinning black holes

    hep-th 2019-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A spinning Kerr black hole suppresses the vacuum decay rate compared to a non-spinning one, assuming the nucleated vacuum bubble is an ellipsoid whose shape is fixed by the Kerr geometry.

  11. Connecting the Higgs Potential and Primordial Black Holes

    hep-ph 2019-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A percolation calculation connects the Higgs potential parameters to the allowed masses and formation temperatures of primordial black holes, excluding regions where vacuum decay bubbles would have destroyed the universe.

  12. Late-time Quantum Vacuum Decay and its Cosmological Implications

    astro-ph.CO 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Phenomenological late-time vacuum-tunneling models are fit to DESI DR2, supernova, and CMB data, allowing up to 50% vacuum-energy drop for z_t < 1 and a preferred z_t ~7 model that converts ~10% dark matter while easi...

  13. On the Renormalization Group flow of distributions

    hep-th 2025-06 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A continuity equation governs the RG flow of coupling distributions, so the most probable coupling after evolution need not follow the most probable initial trajectory.

  14. On equivalent methods for functional determinants

    hep-th 2026-01 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The Gel'fand-Yaglom theorem and the Green's function method for functional determinants both follow from one contour integral; zero and negative modes are handled by explicit subtraction.

  15. What is the Hierarchy Problem?

    hep-ph 2025-05 unverdicted novelty 3.0 of 10

The Hierarchy Problem is reframed as ignorance of the physical mechanism behind the Higgs boson, not as a formal mathematical inconsistency.
