abstract

We perform a nonperturbative calculation of the 1S0 NN scattering amplitude using an effective field theory (EFT) expansion. The expansion we advocate is a modification of what has been used previously; it is no a chiral expansion in powers of the pion mass. We use dimensional regularization throughout and the MS-bar subtraction scheme; our final result depends only on physical observables. We show that the EFT expansion of the quantity |p|cot delta(p) converges at momenta much greater than the scale that characterizes the derivative expansion of the EFT Lagrangian. Our conclusions are optimistic about the applicability of an EFT approach to the quantitative study of nuclear matter.

Dimer Effective Field Theory

nucl-th · 2026-03-30 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Incorporating dimer fields into the effective field theory resolves poles in the C-matrix from the angular momentum barrier, yielding cutoff-insensitive leading-order fits to nucleon-nucleon phase shifts up to the pion threshold.

Bootstrapping Two-Nucleon Effective Field Theories

nucl-th · 2026-05-21 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

Bootstrap consistency checks show that the NLO chiral EFT potential for the 1S0 two-nucleon wave remains valid over a significantly wider energy range than the LO version when compared to Granada phase shifts.

Scrutiny of the new class of three-nucleon forces

nucl-th · 2025-12-16 · conditional · novelty 3.0

After removing renormalization-scheme-dependent short-distance parts, the scrutinized three-nucleon forces yield small contributions to neutron and symmetric nuclear matter equations of state, aligning with standard chiral EFT expectations.

Under Wigner's SU(4) symmetry the neutron-proton scattering amplitude generates no new quantum resources while same-nucleon channels do due to identical-particle constraints.
