abstract

The $R^2 F^{2g-2}$ terms of Type IIA strings on Calabi-Yau 3-folds, which are given by the corresponding topological string amplitudes (a worldsheet instanton sum for all genera), are shown to have a simple M-theory interpretation. In particular, a Schwinger one-loop computation in M-theory with wrapped M2 branes and Kaluza-Klein modes going around the loop reproduces the all genus string contributions from constant maps and worldsheet instanton corrections. In the simplest case of an isolated M2 brane with the topology of the sphere, we obtain the contributions of small worldsheet instantons (sphere ``bubblings'') which extends the results known or conjectured for low genera. Surprisingly, the 't Hooft expansion of large $N$ Chern-Simons theory on $S^3$ can also be used in a novel way to compute these gravitational terms at least in special cases.

The refined local Donaldson-Thomas theory of curves

math.AG · 2025-06-17 · unverdicted · novelty 8.0

The refined K-theoretic DT and PT theories of local curves are solved explicitly via localization to skew nested Hilbert schemes, yielding three universal series from the equivariant vertex and confirming the DT/PT correspondence in arbitrary genus.

Orientation Reversal and the Chern-Simons Natural Boundary

hep-th · 2025-05-20 · conditional · novelty 8.0

Resurgence provides a unique analytic continuation across natural boundaries for Chern-Simons q-series that matches 3-manifold orientation reversal via Mordell integral decompositions.

Bootstrapping ABJM theory

hep-th · 2026-02-10 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

A bootstrap approach applied to ABJM theory yields analytic derivations of instanton corrections to the free energy and to 1/2 and 1/6 BPS Wilson loops, confirming relations previously known only conjecturally.

Non-perturbative topological strings from resurgence

hep-th · 2024-06-25 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Topological string partition function on CY threefolds factors into conifold terms powered by sheaf invariants, enabling non-perturbative Borel-resummed expression whose jumps are controlled by genus-zero GV invariants and a deformed prepotential.

Large Order Enumerative Geometry, Black Holes and Black Rings

hep-th · 2026-05-19 · unverdicted · novelty 6.0

Numerical study of high-genus GV invariants reveals 5D indices matching BMPV black-hole entropy below a critical angular momentum and black-ring dominance above, with additional phase transitions and growth laws in PT and DT invariants.

Towards the Realization of the Dark Dimension Scenario in Ho\v{r}ava-Witten Theory

hep-th · 2026-05-11 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

Hořava-Witten theory offers a potential string embedding of the dark dimension by localizing the Standard Model on the 11th interval, with symmetric tadpole cancellation and an infinite-distance limit helping derive the scalar potential and couplings from Schwinger integrals.

Interacting Multi-Node Conifold Light Sectors

math.AG · 2026-04-22 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

Defines an interacting multi-node light-sector package for finite-node conifold degenerations of Calabi-Yau threefolds and proves a block-reduced structure theorem that isolates relation collapse and residual global sector interactions.
