abstract
These lecture notes review the structure of anomalies and present some of their applications in field theory, string theory and M theory. They expand on material presented at the TASI 2003 summer school and the 2005 International Spring School on String Theory in Hangzhou, China.

The Lorentzian CSK functional acts as a chiral sphaleron that dynamically isotropizes closed de Sitter cosmologies through Gaussian suppression of anisotropic perturbations.
For dual massive RG flows, the gapped-phase module is spanned by smeared Ishibashi states and cannot be reduced to the boundary-critical Cardy-state module, even in the simplest tricritical-Ising to Ising flow.
Broken higher-group and non-invertible symmetries still act on the space of couplings, and their 'family anomalies' force the infrared theory to be gapless, spontaneously broken, or interrupted by a phase transition.
Constructs Z_N extended fusion rings and modular partition functions for nonanomalous subgroups, extending to multicomponent systems and orbifoldings in CFTs.
Axial anomaly form is unchanged in dense matter via Ward identity cancellation, yielding a Fermi-velocity-suppressed persistent chiral magnetic current set by axial chemical potential.
Derives a generic chiral anomaly formula incorporating multiple Feynman diagrams, from which abelian, singlet, consistent, and covariant forms follow, with topological discussion and FeynCalc code.
Lectures summarizing the construction of hydrodynamic EFTs through strong-to-weak symmetry breaking, with examples from spin chains to relativistic QFTs and UV/IR constraints on transport coefficients.
This review summarizes transformative examples of generalized symmetries in QFT and their applications to anomalies and dynamics.
A comprehensive introduction to spectral networks that develops higher-rank Teichmüller theory in parallel with class S gauge theory and BPS spectra.
