We derive the one-loop beta functions for a theory of gravity with generic action containing up to four derivatives. The calculation is done in arbitrary dimension and on an arbitrary background. The special cases of three, four, near four, five and six dimensions are discussed in some detail. We find that the theories have nontrivial UV fixed points and are asymptotically safe in all dimensions we study. We also find an indication that Weyl-invariant fixed point exists in four dimensions. The new massive gravity in three dimensions does not correspond to any fixed point.

  1. Scaling solutions for gauge invariant flow equations in dilaton quantum gravity

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Scaling solutions of a gauge-invariant functional flow equation support the dilaton quantum gravity fixed point, with Planck mass ~ φ² at large field and a stable negative kinetial in the infrared.

  2. Regulator and gauge dependence of the Abelian gauge coupling in asymptotically safe quantum gravity

    hep-th 2025-08 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

The existence of an asymptotically safe UV completion for the Abelian gauge coupling is shown to survive simultaneous variations of the regulator and gauge parameters in certain minimal-sensitivity regions.

  3. Proper-time functional renormalization in $O(N)$ scalar models coupled to gravity

    hep-th 2025-08 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Proper-time FRG applied to gravity-coupled O(N) scalars largely reproduces scaling solutions and critical properties found with the effective average action, with some quantitative differences at finite and large N de...
