We review the present theoretical and numerical understanding of magnetic field amplification in cosmic large-scale structure, on length scales of galaxy clusters and beyond. Structure formation drives compression and turbulence, which amplify tiny magnetic seed fields to the microGauss values that are observed in the intracluster medium. This process is intimately connected to the properties of turbulence and the microphysics of the intra-cluster medium. Additional roles are played by merger induced shocks that sweep through the intra-cluster medium and motions induced by sloshing cool cores. The accurate simulation of magnetic field amplification in clusters still poses a serious challenge for simulations of cosmological structure formation. We review the current literature on cosmological simulations that include magnetic fields and outline theoretical as well as numerical challenges.

  2. Helical radio jets as probes of magnetised cluster environments: Periodic Faraday Rotation Revealed in the Corkscrew Galaxy by POSSUM

    astro-ph.GA 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.5 of 10

Periodic RM oscillations matching the Corkscrew jet's lateral deviations reveal a transition from jet/sheath to local-ICM Faraday media along the flow.

  3. Active galactic nuclei through the prism of galaxy clusters: bounds on axion-like particles

    astro-ph.HE 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Stacked gamma-ray spectra of 29 AGN-cluster pairs place new bounds on axion-like particles with masses around 1 to 10 neV, improving previous limits by up to a factor of four under the assumed cluster magnetic fields.

  4. Symbiotic Magnetogenesis during Radiation Domination

    astro-ph.HE 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

A symbiotic axion-dilaton system sources a moderately chiral dark U(1) magnetic field of astrophysically relevant strength during radiation domination through tachyonic amplification without fine-tuning.

  5. Constraining AGN accretion physics with black hole mass-luminosity scaling relations

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Chaotic Cold Accretion reproduces the observed near-linear black hole mass-bolometric luminosity scaling (slope 0.91) in z>2 quasars while Bondi accretion underpredicts by ~2 dex.

  6. Unraveling the Imprints of Fluctuation-dynamo on the Intracluster Medium with the SKA

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

MHD simulations indicate that SKA-Mid Band 5a can detect filamentary polarized emission from ICM magnetic fields at high resolution and sensitivity, allowing inference of turbulence driving scales.

  7. Forward cascade of large-scale primordial magnetic fields during structure formation

    astro-ph.CO 2025-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A flux-conservation advection equation reproduces the qualitative forward cascade of primordial magnetic field spectra during structure formation.

  8. The Large-Scale Structure of the Universe through the SKA lenses

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 1.0 of 10

This review chapter summarizes the cosmic web's theoretical framework, recent radio observations of diffuse gas, and the expected impact of the SKA on detecting baryons in filaments and cluster outskirts.
