Constraining the Rotational Kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect in Massive Galaxy Clusters
read the original abstract
We constrain the rotational kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (rkSZ) effect in Planck data using a sample of rotating galaxy clusters identified in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). We extract cluster-centered cutouts from Planck cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps that have been cleaned of thermal SZ signal. Using previous constraints on the cluster rotation vectors determined from the motions of galaxies, we fit for the amplitude of the rkSZ effect in the CMB cutouts, marginalizing over parameters describing the cluster electron distribution. We also employ an alternative, less model-dependent approach to measuring the rkSZ signal that involves measuring the dipole induced by the rkSZ in rotation velocity-oriented CMB stacks. In both cases, we find roughly $2\sigma$ evidence for a rkSZ signal consistent with the expected amplitude and morphology. We comment on future directions for measurements of the rkSZ signal.

The Treble Clef radio phoenix and its old nonthermal filaments
VLSS J0318.9+5755 (the Treble Clef) is a radio phoenix with ultra-steep spectrum in a massive merging cluster at z≈0.117 in the Zone of Avoidance, shaped by ICM gas motions that may also power a candidate radio halo.

The topology of the magnetic field in Abell 2255 out to its virial radius. Results from the LOFAR Galaxy Cluster Ultra-Deep Field
The magnetic field in Abell 2255 shows ordered, region-dependent orientations inferred from synchrotron intensity gradients, with radial fields in bridges and tangential fields in relics.

Dipoles for everyone: the pseudo-$C_\ell$ approach to directional stacking
Directional stacking signals are reconstructed without information loss as cross-power spectra between the target field and the E/B modes of the spin field weighted by galaxy density.
