We explore the scenario where both the strong CP and Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) phases are determined by the same axion field. Such a scenario is naturally realized in string compactifications. We find that there exists parameter region to realize the tiny strong CP phase and observed CKM phase in magnetized D-brane models.

  1. Large and small hierarchies from finite modular symmetries

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Using finite modular symmetries, radiative stabilization of multiple moduli can simultaneously generate large and small hierarchies, such as Im τ1 ≈ 3 and Im τ2 ≈ 15.

  2. Flavor from Consistency: Axion, Anomaly Cancellation, and Emergent Unification

    hep-ph 2025-11 reject novelty 4.0 of 10

The paper presents a supergravity model where anomaly cancellation and U(1)_X charges generate quark/lepton hierarchies and a flavored QCD axion, but the charge assignments and axion scale are fitted rather than derived.
