abstract

We evaluate the electric dipole moment of charged leptons in the standard model, where the complex phase of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix is the only source of CP violation. We first prove that, at the quark-gluon level, it is suppressed by a factor of $m_b^2 m_c^2 m_s^2$ at all orders of perturbation due to the Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani mechanism. We then calculate the hadronic long distance contribution generated by vector mesons at one-loop level. The $|\Delta S|=1$ weak hadronic interaction is derived using the factorization, and the strong interaction is modeled by the hidden local symmetry framework. We find that the electric dipole moments of charged leptons obtained from this hadronic mechanism are much larger than the perturbative four-loop level quark-gluon process, by several orders of magnitude.

  1. Reaction-boundary variance and adjoint-consistent local-volatility projection

    q-fin.PR 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Reaction-boundary variance is a finite-scale Green cumulant of damped Abel response to long-memory order flow; calendar local vol is an activity projection admissible only under forward–backward adjoint consistency.

  2. Correlating $A \to \gamma\gamma$ with electric dipole moments in the two Higgs doublet model in light of the diphoton excesses at 95 GeV and 152 GeV

    hep-ph 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The CP-odd scalar A in the flavor-aligned CP-violating 2HDM can explain the diphoton excesses at 95 and 152 GeV only in tuned regions that survive the electron EDM bound and predict measurable neutron and proton EDMs.

  3. Left-Handed Physics is not right for EDMs

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

In lepton-flavour-violating new physics models where heavy states do not couple to right-handed charged leptons, one-loop electric dipole moments vanish in both the mass and Yukawa bases, leaving two-loop effects as t...
