Symmetric mass generation is the name given to a mechanism for gapping fermions while preserving a chiral, but necessarily non-anomalous, symmetry. In this paper we describe how symmetric mass generation for continuous symmetries can be achieved using gauge dynamics in two and four dimensions. Various strong coupling effects are invoked, including known properties of supersymmetric gauge theories, specifically the phenomenon of s-confinement, and conjectured properties of non-supersymmetric chiral gauge theories.

Exactly Solvable 1+1d Chiral Lattice Gauge Theories
Anomaly-free chiral U(1) gauge theories in 1+1 dimensions can be written as quadratic, exactly solvable lattice Hamiltonians, with the 34-50 model as an explicit example.

Bosonization versus the Nielsen-Ninomiya theorem
The 2D modified Villain model's Weyl operators reproduce free Dirac correlations in the continuum, and their no-doubler Dirac kernel is non-local, showing exactly how bosonization evades the Nielsen-Ninomiya theorem.

Heterotic Ouroboros
The seven non-supersymmetric heterotic strings are re-derived from M-theory on S^1∨S^1 via an 'ouroboros' type I' configuration whose rules are fitted to reproduce the known spectra; new junctions among the theories a...

"Symmetry-from-Anomaly" in Condensed Matter related Constructions
The paper proposes that a conserved and gauge invariant axial rotation in 1d and 3d condensed matter models requires a dark bulk topological order built from partons, distinguishing it from noninvertible symmetry proposals.
