abstract

The four-point correlation function of primordial scalar perturbations has parity-even and parity-odd contributions and the parity-odd signal in cosmological observations is opening a novel window to look for new physics in the inflationary epoch. We study the distinct parity-odd and even prediction from the axion inflation model, in which the inflaton couples to a vector field via a Chern-Simons interaction, and the vector field is considered to be either approximately massless ($m_A \ll $ Hubble scale $H$) or very massive ($m_A \sim H $). The parity-odd signal arises due to one transverse mode of the vector field being predominantly produced during inflation. We adopt the in-in formalism to evaluate the correlation functions. Considering the vector field mode function to be dominated by its real part up to a constant phase, we simplify the formulas for numerical computations. The numerical studies show that the massive and massless vector fields give significant parity-even signals, while the parity-odd contribution is about one to two orders of magnitude smaller.

  1. Parity-violating scalar trispectrum from helical primordial magnetic fields

    astro-ph.CO 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Helical primordial magnetic fields produce a computable parity-odd signal in the scalar trispectrum, currently constrained to r_H ≲ 4×10^-4 for B_r = 4.7 nG.

  2. Massive Inflationary Amplitudes: Differential Equations and Complete Solutions for General Trees

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Every tree-level massive inflation correlator in the signal region can be written as one massive family tree series plus its cuts, with 2I summation variables.

  3. Axion Inflation with a Massive Abelian Gauge Field

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A massive Abelian gauge field axially coupled to the inflaton yields tachyonic production only for |ξ|>m/H, with sourced CMB curvature power suppressed as ~1/m̄²–1/m̄³ at fixed backreaction, allowing strong friction f...

  4. Probing Parity Violation with Weak Lensing Trispectrum

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A parity-odd weak lensing convergence trispectrum is derived and forecast to be detectable with DES Y3/LSST Y10-like surveys under optimistic template amplitudes.

  5. Measurement of Parity-Violating Modes of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Year 1 Luminous Red Galaxies' 4-Point Correlation Function

    astro-ph.CO 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

DESI's first parity-violation search shows a strong auto-correlation signal that disappears when the sky is split into patches, pointing to underestimated mocks' variance rather than new physics.

  6. Twisted echoes of an odd quartet: Scalar-induced gravitational waves as a probe of primordial parity-violation

    astro-ph.CO 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A parity-odd primordial trispectrum imprints measurable left-right asymmetry in scalar-induced gravitational waves, and the chirality ratio directly tracks the parity-odd to parity-even trispectrum amplitude ratio.

  7. CMB Lensing Trispectrum as a Probe of Parity Violation in LSS

    astro-ph.CO 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The CMB lensing trispectrum is sensitive to parity violation in large-scale structure, and a parity-odd toy model predicts a detectable signal in idealized noiseless forecasts.
