Lyapunov exponents (LEs) are key indicators of chaos in dynamical systems. In general relativity the classical definition of LE meets difficulty because it is not coordinate invariant and spacetime coordinates lose their physical meaning as in Newtonian dynamics. We propose a new definition of relativistic LE and give its algorithm in any coordinate system, which represents the observed changing law of the space separation between two neighboring particles (an 'observer' and a 'neighbor'), and is truly coordinate invariant in a curved spacetime.

Time-reversed Shannon entropy as a chaos indicator for non-integrable systems
Time-reversed Shannon entropy distinguishes chaotic from regular orbits in Kerr and Schwarzschild-Melvin spacetimes by quantifying forward-backward asymmetry in probability distributions.

Chaotic motion of particles around a Schwarzschild black hole in a swirling electromagnetic background
Numerical chaos indicators applied to the Schwarzschild-Bertotti-Robinson-Bonnor-Melvin family show that chaos occurs without swirling and that electromagnetic field strengths and directions tightly restrict bound orbits.

Mutual Information for particle pair and its application to diagnose Chaos in Curved Spacetime
Mutual information between two nearby particle trajectories distinguishes regular from chaotic orbits in Schwarzschild and Kerr spacetimes, matching the fast Lyapunov indicator.

Chaotic behaviors of particles around the black hole with an anisotropic matter immersed in a magnetic field
Exact black hole solution with anisotropic matter and magnetic field shows the matter parameter reduces local chaos (Lyapunov exponent) while the magnetic field drives qualitative shifts in global chaos (Poincaré sections).

Chaos dynamics of charged particles near Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger black holes
Charged particle orbits around GMGHS dilaton black holes transition from ordered to chaotic as the black hole charge or magnetic charge parameter increases.
