We investigate the impact of unquenching effects on QCD Green's functions, in the form of quark-loop contributions to both the gluon propagator and three-gluon vertex, in a three-loop inspired truncation of the three-particle irreducible (3PI) effective action. The fully coupled system of Dyson-Schwinger equations for the quark-gluon-, ghost-gluon- and three-gluon vertices, together with the quark propagator, are solved self-consistently; our only input are the ghost and gluon propagators themselves that are constrained by calculations within Lattice QCD. We find that the two different unquenching effects have roughly equal, but opposite, impact on the quark-gluon vertex and quark propagator, with an overall negative impact on the latter. By taking further derivatives of the 3PI effective action, we construct the corresponding quark-antiquark kernel of the Bethe-Salpeter equation for mesons. The leading component is gluon exchange between two fully-dressed quark-gluon vertices, thus introducing for the first time an obvious scalar-scalar component to the binding. We gain access to time-like properties of bound-states by analytically continuing the coupled system of Dyson--Schwinger equations to the complex plane. We observe that the vector axial-vector splitting is in accord with experiment and that the lightest quark-antiquark scalar meson is above 1 GeV in mass.

  1. Emergence of the $\pi(1300)$ Resonance from Lattice QCD

    hep-lat 2025-10 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

Lattice QCD plus three-body scattering formalism yields a π(1300)-like pole at (1169±46)−i(62−62+168) MeV, consistent with experiment.

  2. Pion Distribution Amplitudes from Functional QCD

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The pion DA computed from functional QCD via LaMET has ⟨ξ²⟩_π = 0.267 (no quoted error), consistent with sum rules and DSE/BSE and 0.8σ below the lattice-LaMET value 0.300(41).

  3. The causal structure of the quark propagator

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In a spectral DSE computation, the quark propagator develops complex-conjugate poles when the classical quark-gluon vertex strength exceeds a critical value, while the full QCD strength is predicted to stay below that value.

  4. Spectra of light and heavy mesons with $J \le 5$ in a relativistic Bethe-Salpeter approach

    hep-ph 2025-10 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

First J=4,5 meson Bethe-Salpeter tensor bases plus exploratory rainbow-ladder spectra and Regge trajectories from light through bottom quarkonia.

  5. Physics of the gluon mass gap

    hep-ph 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The gluon mass gap, defined as the complex pole of the gluon propagator, is linearly tied to the deconfinement temperature, and both Tc and fπ are insensitive to deep-infrared deformations below the infrared inflection point.

  6. Gluon mass scale through the Schwinger mechanism

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

A comprehensive review showing how massless composite poles in QCD vertices can generate the gluon mass scale, with a BSE-based computation reaching m=367 MeV against the 354 MeV lattice value.
