We have investigated the motion for photons in the Kerr black hole spacetime under the axion-photon coupling. The birefringence phenomena arising from the axion-photon coupling can be negligible in the weak coupling approximation because the leading-order contributions to the equations of motion come from the square term of the coupling parameter. We find that the coupling parameter makes the size of shadows slightly increase for arbitrary spin parameter. For the rapid rotating black hole case with a larger coupling, we find that there exist a pedicel-like structure appeared in the left of the D-type like shadows.Comparing the shadow size of the Kerr black hole with the shadow size of the Sgr A* and M87* black holes, we find that there is room for such a theoretical model of the axion-photon coupling.

Optical Images of the Braneworld Black Hole Surrounded by an Optically Thin Accretion Disk
A rotating braneworld black hole with tidal charge casts an asymmetric, spin- and q-dependent shadow; with the adopted disk emissivity, its 86 GHz image is brighter than its 230 GHz image.

Thermodynamics and Shadows of Kerr black holes endowed with a global monopole charge
The authors derive shadow and thermodynamic quantities for a Kerr-like metric with a global monopole term in Δ, and claim EHT observations constrain the monopole charge α.

Optical images of the Kerr-Sen black hole and thin accretion disk
Ray-traced images of a Kerr-Sen black hole with a thin accretion disk show spin-dominated inner-shadow deformation and inclination-dominated redshift maps, while the 86-versus-230 GHz brightness gap is inherited from ...
