A simple method to calculate the total annihilation cross section of massive cold relics is presented. Exact expressions for $\arel$, $\brel$, and $\crel$ of $\sigma \vrel=\arel+\brel \vrel^2+\crel \vrel^4$ are obtained from simple derivatives of the squared annihilation amplitude. Three examples are given. In one example, the computed annihilation cross section of massive Dirac neutrinos confirms recent correct calculations.

  1. Probing Dark Sector Particles Coupling to Neutrinos with Double Beta Decay

    hep-ph 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Double beta decay experiments can constrain couplings of sub-MeV Majoron-like scalars to neutrinos at |a_ν| ≈ 2×10^{-6} through on- and off-shell production effects on the electron spectrum.
