Rapidity-odd directed flow($v_1$) measurements for charged pions, protons and antiprotons near mid-rapidity ($y=0$) are reported in $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4 and 200 GeV Au + Au collisions as recorded by the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). At intermediate impact parameters, the proton and net-proton slope parameter $dv_1/dy|_{y=0}$ shows a minimum between 11.5 and 19.6 GeV. In addition, the net-proton $dv_1/dy|_{y=0}$ changes sign twice between 7.7 and 39 GeV. The proton and net-proton results qualitatively resemble predictions of a hydrodynamic model with a first-order phase transition from hadronic matter to deconfined matter, and differ from hadronic transport calculations.

Observation of Strong $\phi$-meson Directed Flow at High Baryon Density
nucl-ex 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 8.0
First observation of phi-meson directed flow v1 comparable in magnitude to protons and Lambdas but much larger than K0S, with baryon-like energy dependence at high baryon density.

Rapidity-even directed flow splitting of protons and antiprotons as a probe of baryon stopping in relativistic heavy-ion collisions
nucl-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0
The mid-rapidity curvature of Δv₁^even(p − p̄) is proposed as a robust discriminator of initial-state baryon rapidity profiles motivated by double-junction stopping.

Collision Energy Dependence of Hypertriton Production in Au+Au Collisions at RHIC
nucl-ex 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0
Hypertriton yields and Lambda ratios increase at lower collision energies but remain a factor of two below thermal models, while the double ratio to triton production stays constant at 0.4, pointing to intrinsically l...

Rapidity dependence of mean transverse momentum fluctuation and decorrelation in baryon-dense medium
nucl-th 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 5.0
Mean transverse momentum fluctuations in baryon-rich matter are driven by energy and baryon density variations, remain robust to baryon diffusion, and show splitting between protons and antiprotons.

Sensitivity of Heavy-Quark Dipolar Flow to its Initial Spatial Distributions in Cu+Au Collisions
nucl-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0
In Cu+Au collisions, heavy-quark directed flow is an order of magnitude larger than charged-hadron flow and shows strong sensitivity to initial spatial distributions and temperature-dependent drag.
