In the study of horizon thermodynamics and emergent gravity two natural expressions for energy, E= 2 TS (equipartition energy) and E=TS (Noether energy) arise which differ by a factor 2. I clarify the role of these two expressions in different contexts and show how E=TS is also closely related to the Noether charge arising from the boundary term of the Einstein-Hilbert action.

  1. Gravity and Quantum Theory: Domains of Conflict and Contact

    gr-qc 2019-09 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A review that uses horizon thermality and invariance under vacuum-energy shifts to argue that gravity is thermodynamic, with a predicted cosmological constant.

  2. Generalized Mass-to-Horizon Entropy and Horizon Thermodynamics

    gr-qc 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 3.0 of 10

A two-parameter mass-to-horizon entropy extension yields the Friedmann equation via Clausius and modified thermodynamics while satisfying entropy maximization and stable fluctuations.
