Using the method of modular-invariant differential equations, we classify a family of Rational Conformal Field Theories with two and three characters having no Kac-Moody algebra. In addition to unitary and non-unitary minimal models, we find "dual" theories whose characters obey bilinear relations with those of the minimal models to give the Moonshine Module. In some ways this relation is analogous to cosets of meromorphic CFT's. The theory dual in this sense to the Ising model has central charge 47/2 and is related to the Baby Monster Module.

  1. Parafermionizing the Monster

    hep-th 2026-05 conditional novelty 7.0

Assuming a conjectural decomposition of the Monster character, the Monster CFT has Rep(so(3)_p) symmetry for every odd prime p, and the associated defect McKay-Thompson series have invariance subgroup Γ1(p+2).

  2. Unlocking the Wronskian Tower: A Simplification of the Holomorphic Modular Bootstrap

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

A differential operator Θ = η^{-4}D relates MLDE solutions across Wronskian sectors, reducing higher-ℓ quasi-character classification in ranks 2 and 3 to ℓ=0 data and proving the ℓ=2 sign conjecture.

  3. Parafermionizing the Monster

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Parafermionization equates the Monster CFT to a gauged parafermion pair, yielding Rep(so(3)_p) symmetry and defect McKay-Thompson series invariant under Gamma_1(p+2).
