We argue that restricted Schur polynomials provide a useful parameterization of the complete set of gauge invariant variables of multi-matrix models. The two point functions of restricted Schur polynomials are evaluated exactly in the free field theory limit. They have diagonal two point functions.

  1. Overcrowding and the Finite-$N$ Hilbert Space

    hep-th 2026-07 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

    For d Hermitian N x N matrices, any all-single-trace choice of primary coordinates must miss a trace direction by degree 2 log_d N + log_d log_d N + O(1), parametrically below the first trace identity.

  2. Critical dimensions and small cycle dominance from all-orders asymptotics of $d$-matrix theory

    hep-th 2026-03 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The weighted partition numbers of d-matrix theory admit an all-orders asymptotic expansion that switches from divergent to convergent at d=13 (bosonic) or 7 (fermionic).

  3. Superconformal Weight Shifting Operators

    hep-th 2025-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Introduces SU(m,m|2n)-covariant weight-shifting operators in the super-Grassmannian formalism to derive all superconformal blocks from half-BPS ones.

  4. Negative heat capacities in spherically symmetric sectors of $d$-matrix quantum mechanics

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

SO(d) and O(d) invariant sectors of d-matrix QM show negative microcanonical heat capacity that becomes positive at k_crit ~ N^2/4, forming a caloric fold similar to AdS black holes.
