abstract

A recently modified method to enable low-energy nuclear scattering results to be extracted from the discrete energy levels of the target-projectile clusters confined by harmonic potential traps is tested. We report encouraging results for neutron--$\alpha$ and neutron--$^{24}\mathrm{O}$ elastic scattering from analyzing the trapped levels computed using two different ab initio nuclear structure methods. The $n$--$\alpha$ results have also been checked against a direct ab initio reaction calculation. The $n$--$^{24}\mathrm{O}$ results demonstrate the approach's applicability for a large range of systems provided their spectra in traps can be computed by ab initio methods. A key ingredient is a rigorous understanding of the errors in the calculated energy levels caused by inevitable Hilbert-space truncations in the ab initio methods.

    nucl-th 2026-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Discrete energy levels from truncated many-body calculations are inverted, via a Multiparameter Eigenvalue Problem emulator, into effective contact interactions that yield scattering phase shifts and resonance predictions.

  2. Data-driven trap theory for nuclear scattering

    nucl-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A data-calibrated quantization condition is proposed to extract nuclear scattering phase shifts from harmonic-trap spectra for neutral and charged particles.

  3. Ab initio lattice study of neutron-alpha scattering with chiral forces at N3LO

    nucl-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A lattice calculation of neutron-helium-4 scattering with chiral forces at N3LO matches empirical phase shifts in the 2S1/2 and 2P3/2 channels but not the 2P1/2 channel, pointing to limitations in the three-nucleon force.

  4. Toward extracting scattering phase shift from integrated correlation functions IV: Coulomb corrections

    hep-lat 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

By subtracting the pure-Coulomb correlation function from the Coulomb-plus-short-range one, the authors derive a divergence-free integral relation to short-range phase shifts and verify it in an exactly solvable model.

  5. Ab initio many-fermion structure calculations on a quantum computer

    nucl-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A quantum-classical resolvent method with a new fermionic block-encoding input scheme computes the spectrum and J values of 20O in a truncated sd-shell space, matching classical diagonalization.

  6. Studying few cluster resonances with quantum neural network driven iterative Harrow-Hassidim-Lloyd algorithm

    quant-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A quantum neural network generates eigenvector-continuation basis states, and an iterative HHL routine solves the resulting generalized eigenvalue problem for the 4+ resonance of 9ΛBe.
