The S-matrix Bootstrap originated on the idea that the S-matrix might be fully constrained by global symmetries, crossing, unitarity, and analyticity without relying on an underlying dynamical theory that may or may not be a quantum field theory. Recently this approach was revived from a somewhat different point of view. Using the same constraints, one numerically maps out the (infinite-dimensional) space of allowed S-matrices that should contain all consistent quantum field theories (and quantum theories of gravity). Moreover, in the best case scenario one finds special points in the space that can be identified with a certain quantum field theory of interest. In that case, the approach allows the numerical computation of the S-matrix without relying on the particular Lagrangian of the theory. In this white paper we summarize the state of the art and discuss the future of the topic.

  1. Bootstrapping black holes at low impact parameter

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

After subtracting the eikonal carrier, the residual SDR spectrum in six dimensions organizes into a cap-saturated low-impact band, an empty gap, and Regge-like ridges whose weak-coupling edge is the G_N=0 baseline.

  2. QFT as a set of ODEs: higher dimensions

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

The authors generalize the AdS₂ flow equations for QFT data to AdS₃ and AdS₄, add crossing-based closure and Padé-accelerated sums, and verify them in free theories.

  3. Propagator positivity bounds for cosmological correlators

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

An infinite tower of two-sided positivity bounds constrains the EFT coefficients of heavy fields on de Sitter, ruling out correlators with no unitary/causal UV completion.

  4. S-matrix bootstrap bounds on self-interacting dark matter

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Weakly coupled scalar self-interacting dark matter cannot be heavier than ~0.3 GeV (generic) or ~MeV (derivative-coupled pNGB), much tighter than the 12 GeV unitarity bound.

  5. Neumann scalars in AdS: partition functions and phases

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Neumann scalars in AdS admit one-loop partition functions obtained by contour deformation from the Dirichlet result; the stricter unitarity bound then yields qualitatively different phase diagrams that are corroborate...

  6. Soft Factorisation and Exponentiation from Schwinger-Space Geometry

    hep-th 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Soft-hard factorization and exponentiation of infrared divergences in QED are derived from graph Laplacians and tropical rays in Schwinger parameter space.

  7. Gluon Gravitational $ D$-Form Factor: The $\sigma$-Meson as a Dilaton Confronted with Lattice Data II

    hep-ph 2025-12 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

σ-pole residues in gluon D-form factors for π, N, ρ and Δ are consistent with dilaton effective theory predictions within large uncertainties.
