We construct a single-field model of inflation that achieves remarkable agreement with Planck and BICEP/Keck cosmological observations. The model, via the presence of an ultra-slow-roll phase, generates a sizable scalar-induced gravitational wave (GW) signal at nHz frequencies. We elucidate the distinctive features of this signal concerning its connection to the recent measurement of the low-frequency GW background reported by the NANOGrav collaboration.

  1. How Well Do We Know the Scalar-Induced Gravitational Waves?

    astro-ph.CO 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Non-Gaussian curvature perturbations, related to Gaussian ones by a logarithmic mapping, can make the scalar-induced gravitational wave background much larger or smaller than the standard quadratic calculation predicts.

  2. Purely quadratic non-Gaussianity from tachyonic instability: Primordial black holes and scalar-induced gravitational waves

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Purely quadratic non-Gaussianity from tachyonic instability allows narrow curvature spectra to exponentially suppress primordial black hole overproduction via correlation coefficient ρ approaching -1 while retaining s...

  3. Are Primordial Black Holes Truly Fine-Tuned?

    astro-ph.CO 2025-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Using a normalized sensitivity measure γ=c/c̄, the authors find γ≈1 for three single-field ultra-slow-roll inflation models and conclude PBH production is not technically unnatural.

  4. Implications for Pulsar Timing Arrays of Sub-solar Black Hole Detections: From LVK to Einstein Telescope and Cosmic Explorer

    astro-ph.CO 2025-08 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A Bayesian analysis shows that a future sub-solar PBH detection would make the primordial SIGW interpretation of PTA data favored over the SMBH interpretation, but this preference is driven by the detection prior.

  5. The power of SKA to Constrain cosmological gravitational-wave backgrounds below the astrophysical foreground noise

    astro-ph.CO 2025-06 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Cosmological gravitational wave backgrounds from phase transitions, domain walls, and condensate fragmentation are capped far below the astrophysical foreground by requiring that compact dark matter subhalos, which SK...

  6. Is the formation of primordial black holes from single-field inflation compatible with standard cosmology?

    astro-ph.CO 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Producing primordial black holes in single-field inflation typically forces more than about 55 e-folds after CMB-mode exit, conflicting with standard reheating unless the model is retuned or reheating is exotic.
