Our understanding of strong gravity near supermassive compact objects has recently improved thanks to the measurements made by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). We use here the M87* shadow size to infer constraints on the physical charges of a large variety of nonrotating or rotating black holes. For example, we show that the quality of the measurements is already sufficient to rule out that M87* is a highly charged dilaton black hole. Similarly, when considering black holes with two physical and independent charges, we are able to exclude considerable regions of the space of parameters for the doubly-charged dilaton and the Sen black holes.

Proca theory of four-dimensional regularized Gauss-Bonnet gravity and black holes with primary hair
A Weyl-geometry vector field yields a four-dimensional generalized-Proca Gauss-Bonnet theory whose black holes carry two independent primary-hair constants, one of which becomes an effective cosmological constant afte...

The glow of eternal black holes
An eternal Schwarzschild black hole with an emitting surface at r=r_m would show a bright spot inside its shadow, whose interferometric visibility decays exponentially with baseline length.

Evaporating cosmologically coupled black holes
If a black hole's mass grows with cosmic expansion, Hawking evaporation is slowed or reversed, weakening gamma-ray bounds on primordial black holes.

Influence of Observer Inclination and Spacetime Structure on Photon Ring Observables
For Johannsen-Psaltis spacetimes, the polar photon-ring time delay depends only on spin and shadow size, while the azimuthal shift probes the metric ratio F/N, enabling future spin and frame-dragging tests.

Determining parameters of Kerr-Newman black holes by shadow observation from finite distance and spatial infinity
The shadow contour of a Kerr-Newman black hole observed at infinity uniquely fixes (a/M, Q/M, i), while finite-distance shadows are degenerate for zero spin.

Observational Limits on Einasto Dark Matter Parameters from Event Horizon Telescope Images of Sgr A$^{*}$ and M87$^{*}$
EHT dimensionless shadow diameters plus stellar-dynamical mass priors constrain Einasto central density to ρ₀ ≲ 10^{-11} M⊙/pc³ (1σ) for Sgr A*, with weaker bounds for M87*.

Employing shadow radius to constrain extra dimensions in black string space-time with dark matter halo
EHT shadow sizes give P̃_y≤0.17 for extra-dimensional photon momentum and k≤0.074 for halo compactness, but the headline 2.16 to 2.6 mm extra-dimension length is not robust.

Schwarzschild-like Black Holes Submerged in an Exponential Density Dark Matter Profile
An analytic Schwarzschild-like metric with an exponential dark matter halo is constructed and its shadows, quasi-normal modes, and greybody bounds are computed, though several derived expressions have sign errors.

Joule-Thomson Effect and Geodesic Structure of Charged AdS Black Holes in f(R,T) Coupled with Nonlinear Electrodynamics
Charge most strongly controls JT inversion and cooling domains of the f(R,T)-NLED AdS black hole; NLED and modified-gravity parameters supply only sub-leading corrections that leave exterior geodesics close to RN-AdS.

Plasma effects on gravitational lensing and shadow observables of a Kerr-like black hole in a dark matter halo
Homogeneous plasma enlarges Kerr-like black-hole shadows and emission rates while inhomogeneous plasma shrinks them; astrophysical dark-matter densities leave photon orbits essentially unchanged.

Charged black holes in Kalb-Ramond gravity: Weak Deflection Angle, Shadow cast, Quasinormal Modes and Neutrino annihilation
