This physics book provides detailed discussions on important topics in $\tau$-charm physics that will be explored during the next few years at \bes3 . Both theoretical and experimental issues are covered, including extensive reviews of recent theoretical developments and experimental techniques. Among the subjects covered are: innovations in Partial Wave Analysis (PWA), theoretical and experimental techniques for Dalitz-plot analyses, analysis tools to extract absolute branching fractions and measurements of decay constants, form factors, and CP-violation and \DzDzb-oscillation parameters. Programs of QCD studies and near-threshold tau-lepton physics measurements are also discussed.

  1. Learning transferable event representations for charmed baryon physics at BESIII

    physics.data-an 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

A Particle Transformer pre-trained on simulated Lambda_c events transfers across 12 decay channels, improving classification and momentum-direction regression over training from scratch in low-statistics regimes.

  2. Extraction of charmonium branching fractions from $J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c$ radiative decays

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Proposes new photon line shape and branching fraction extraction method for J/psi to gamma eta_c, claiming compatibility between PDG data correlations and lattice QCD widths via profile scan.

  3. Potential for the discovery of the protophobic boson at the STCF

    hep-ph 2025-12 conditional novelty 5.0

Detector-level simulations indicate the proposed STCF drift chamber could discover the 17 MeV protophobic X17 boson through displaced electron-positron vertices if Standard Model backgrounds stay below about 10^4 even...

  4. Probing the dark axion portal via $J/\psi$ decays at BESIII and STCF

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Monte Carlo studies show BESIII data already reaches previously unexplored regions of the dark axion portal via J/ψ → a γ' decays, with STCF projected to improve sensitivity by about an order of magnitude.
