abstract

We introduce a new diagnostic for the null tests of dynamical dark energy alongside two other combined equivalent diagnostics. These diagnostics are useful, especially when we include anisotropic baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) data in an analysis, to quantify the deviations from the standard $\Lambda$CDM model. We also consider another diagnostic for isotropic BAO observations. These null tests are independent of any late-time dark energy model or parametrization. With these diagnostics, we study the evidence for dynamical dark energy in light of Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) 2024 data combined with cosmic microwave background (CMB) observations of the Planck 2018 mission and local $H_0$ measurements. We find no strong evidence for dynamical dark energy. The exclusion of the individual deviations at the effective redshift 0.51 of the DESI 2024 data makes the evidence even weaker. We get nearly similar results for other non-DESI BAO data. Both for DESI 2024 and other non-DESI BAO data, the evidence is almost independent of early-time physics. The evidence corresponding to the SHOES value of $H_0$ is higher than the corresponding tRGB value of $H_0$ for all combinations of data, but still not strong enough to reject the flat $\Lambda$CDM model.

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Joint nonparametric expansion–growth reconstruction finds no significant dark-sector interaction or dark-energy dynamics, remaining consistent with ΛCDM over 0≲z≲2.

  2. Examining Quintessence Models with DESI Data

    astro-ph.CO 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

NEC-obeying hilltop and exponential quintessence models give at most marginal improvement over the cosmological constant against DESI 2024 data, and the prominent k=10 hilltop 'excellent mimic' claim is an artifact of...

  3. Bridge the Cosmological Tensions with Thawing Gravity

    astro-ph.CO 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Thawing Gravity, a scalar-tensor theory with a non-minimally coupled scalar field, fits the full cosmological dataset better than LambdaCDM and yields H0=71.78+/-0.86 and S8=0.793+/-0.012.

  4. Background-level reconstruction of scalar-field potentials from dark-energy histories and comparison with analytic potential families

    astro-ph.CO 2026-03 conditional novelty 5.5 of 10

A background reconstruction maps prescribed ρ_de(z) histories to V(φ) and ranks analytic potentials by Bayesian evidence, with exponential preferred for CPL and shifted-tanh for sign-switching targets.

  5. Can the universe experience an AdS landscape since matter-radiation equality?

    gr-qc 2025-06 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A universe with an AdS (negative cosmological constant) phase at recombination and another at low redshift is compatible with Planck, DESI, Pantheon Plus and SH0ES data, though not preferred by them.

  6. Robustness of dark energy phenomenology across different parameterizations

    astro-ph.CO 2025-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

The viability of minimally and non-minimally coupled quintessence models is robust across CPL, JBP, BA, and EXP parameterizations, with all four reproducing the models' predicted observables accurately.

  7. The DESI DR1/DR2 evidence for dynamical dark energy is biased by low-redshift supernovae

    astro-ph.CO 2025-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

The DESI dynamical dark energy preference drops below 2 sigma after correcting a 0.043 mag intercept discrepancy in the low-redshift supernovae of DESY5.

  8. Is excess smoothing of Planck CMB ansiotropy data partially responsible for evidence for dark energy dynamics in other $w(z)$CDM parametrizations?

    astro-ph.CO 2025-01 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

In three new w(z)CDM parametrizations, Planck CMB plus non-CMB data favor evolving dark energy over a cosmological constant at roughly 2 sigma when the Planck lensing anomaly parameter is fixed, and at roughly 1 sigma...

  9. Imprint of swampland-inspired coupled early dark energy

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

  10. Observational constraints on early time non-phantom behaviour of dynamical dark energy

    astro-ph.CO 2025-12 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Early scaling dark energy is constrained to be less than about one percent at matter-radiation equality and is disfavored by model selection, while late-time CPL dynamics show only a weak preference away from ΛCDM.

  11. An overview of what current data can (and cannot yet) say about evolving dark energy

    astro-ph.CO 2025-02 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The apparent preference for evolving dark energy depends strongly on which supernova catalog and which BAO survey are used, and is not robust across all independent data combinations.

    astro-ph.CO 2025-02 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

When the Planck lensing amplitude AL is fitted freely, DESI+CMB+SN data no longer prefer evolving dark energy, and DESI BAO's lower matter density worsens the lensing anomaly in LambdaCDM.
