The aim of these lectures is to give a self-contained introduction to nonrelativistic potential models, to their formulation as well as to their possible applications. At the price of some lack of (in a mathematical sense) rigorous derivations, we try to give a feeling and understanding for the simplest conceivable method to extract the explicit form of the forces acting between quarks from the interplay between experimental observations and theoretical considerations. According to this spirit, we demonstrate, in detail, how to obtain the underlying Hamiltonian and how to determine the Lorentz structure of the quark--(anti-)quark interaction potential from well-established experimental facts.

  1. Nonrelativistic meson masses from the Curci-Ferrari model

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A potential model built from the Curci-Ferrari massive-gluon action fits charm and bottom meson spectra, and the fit prefers a nonzero gluon mass.

  2. Systematic study of light and charm meson M1 radiative transitions

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

The paper calculates vector meson magnetic moments and M1 radiative decay widths for light and charm mesons, finding that both models need empirical scale factors to match measured charm decays.

  3. Mass spectrum, magnetic moments and Regge trajectories of $\Omega_{ccb}$ and $\Omega_{cbb}$ baryons in the nonrelativistic quark--diquark model

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

In a nonrelativistic quark-diquark model fitted to B_c meson data, the authors predict ground-state masses of ~8.0 GeV for Ω_ccb and ~11.0 GeV for Ω_cbb along with magnetic moments and Regge trajectories for different...
