The primordial fluctuations on large scales are adiabatic, but on smaller scales this need not be the case. Here we derive the general analytical framework to compute the stochastic gravitational wave background induced by primordial cold dark matter isocurvature fluctuations on small scales. We find that large isocurvature fluctuations can yield an observable gravitational wave signal, with a spectrum distinct from the one induced by adiabatic perturbations, and we provide for the first time the exact analytic expression of the kernel necessary to compute this signal. We then forecast the constraining power of future gravitational wave detectors on dark matter isocurvature on small scales and find they will dramatically improve on existing constraints.

Inflationary magnetogenesis beyond slow-roll and its induced gravitational waves
In the Ratra inflationary magnetogenesis model, a brief non-slow-roll phase amplifies the magnetic field power spectrum with maximal slope 4.75, and the induced gravitational wave background has a characteristic plate...

Isotropic background and anisotropies of gravitational waves induced by cosmological soliton isocurvature perturbations
Soliton isocurvature perturbations produce gravitational waves whose sky anisotropies are enhanced by non-Gaussianity, offering a new probe of the early universe.

How Well Do We Know the Scalar-Induced Gravitational Waves?
Non-Gaussian curvature perturbations, related to Gaussian ones by a logarithmic mapping, can make the scalar-induced gravitational wave background much larger or smaller than the standard quadratic calculation predicts.

Gravitational wave signatures from reheating in Chern-Simons running-vacuum cosmology
Scalaron-induced gravitational waves in Chern-Simons running-vacuum cosmology have a universal f^6 high-frequency scaling, distinguishable from the f^7 scaling of general relativity, and may be detectable by future ob...

Implications for Pulsar Timing Arrays of Sub-solar Black Hole Detections: From LVK to Einstein Telescope and Cosmic Explorer
A Bayesian analysis shows that a future sub-solar PBH detection would make the primordial SIGW interpretation of PTA data favored over the SMBH interpretation, but this preference is driven by the detection prior.

On the Gauge Invariance of Secondary Gravitational Waves
The paper argues that discarding non-light-speed modes of the second-order tensor perturbation makes the induced gravitational wave energy density gauge-invariant in both adiabatic and isocurvature scenarios.
