The logarithmic ultraviolet divergence in the theta-term induced by electroweak interactions in the Kobayashi-Maskawa model of CP-violation, found by Ellis and Gaillard, is discussed. We relate it to the Jarlskog CP-odd invariant of quark mass matrix. The divergence arises in 14th order in Higgs coupling as well as in 12th order plus 2nd order in U(1) gauge boson coupling.

  1. QCD axion from broken scale symmetry

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

Dilaton from broken scale symmetry meets all conditions for non-compact QCD axion cosmology including non-periodicity and timely domain-wall collapse.

A review of the strong CP problem and axion mechanisms, with a model-building argument that the axion's Peccei-Quinn symmetry can merge with baryon and lepton number and perhaps explain neutrino masses and baryogenesis.

  3. The landscape of QCD axion models

    hep-ph 2020-03 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

Review classifies QCD axion models extending the standard mass-coupling window and updates bounds from cosmology, astrophysics, and experiments.
