Claims

C1strongest claim

This new map contains three major improvements over our previous work: inclusion of Gaia parallaxes for better distances, a spatial prior correlating dust density across nearby sightlines, and four times finer distance resolution.

C2weakest assumption

The spatial prior that correlates dust density across nearby sightlines will produce a smoother map with more isotropic clouds and smaller distance uncertainties, particularly within the nearest kiloparsec.

C3one line summary

A new 3D dust reddening map with finer distance resolution, a spatial correlation prior, and Gaia-based distances covering the sky north of -30 degrees declination out to several kiloparsecs.
