Relativistic outflows with neutrons inevitably lead to inelastic collisions, and resulting subphotospheric gamma rays may explain prompt emission of gamma-ray bursts. In this model, hadronuclear, quasithermal neutrinos in the 10-100 GeV range should be generated, and they may even have a high-energy tail by neutron-proton-converter or shock acceleration mechanisms. We demonstrate the importance of dedicated searches with DeepCore+IceCube, though such analyses have not been performed. Successful detections enable us to discriminate among prompt emission mechanisms, probe the jet composition, and see roles of relativistic neutrons as well as effects of cosmic-ray acceleration.

  1. Probing neutrino emission at GeV energies from compact binary mergers detected during O1-O4a with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory

    astro-ph.HE 2025-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

No significant GeV-neutrino excess was found in a +/-500 s window around 178 compact binary mergers observed by LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA, so new upper limits on the neutrino flux were set.

  2. Particle Astrophysics with High and Ultrahigh Energy Neutrinos

    astro-ph.HE 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

Recent high and ultrahigh energy neutrino detections open a new observational window to the universe by revealing sources and processes inaccessible via photons.

  3. IceCube Results and Perspective for Neutrinos from LHAASO Sources

    astro-ph.HE 2024-04 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

Reviews IceCube neutrino results, models Galactic plane flux from cosmic ray interactions with the interstellar medium, and discusses prospects for identifying PeVatrons via LHAASO sources.
