Preliminary results from an ongoing project to compute a grid of post-AGB models is presented. Our preliminary results show that stellar evolution computations that include an updated treatment of the microphysics predict post-AGB timescales that are several times shorter that predicted by older models. Also the mass-luminosity relation of post-AGB models deviates from that of older grids. In addition, our results suggest only a slight metallicity dependence of the post-AGB timescales. We expect these results to have significant consequences for models of the formation of planetary nebulae and their luminosity function.

    astro-ph.SR 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

TESS data show stochastic low-frequency variability dominates in most extreme helium stars, with characteristic timescales of 0.5-10 days correlating to stellar parameters and matching subsurface convection predictions.

  2. HI envelope around the carbon star V420 Vul

    astro-ph.SR 2026-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

An extended ~20 pc HI structure around the carbon-rich Mira V420 Vul shows symmetric kinematics centered on the star, interpreted as a stellar wind imprint on a porous interstellar cloud.

  3. MUSE Imaging Spectroscopy of the Fullerene Planetary Nebula Tc 1

    astro-ph.SR 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

MUSE observations of Tc 1 map structured extinction, Te, and Ne, revealing a low-extinction annulus outside the main fullerene zone that is interpreted as evidence for locally altered dust properties in the core-halo ...
